14/08/23 – When sailing can pay you an income
Times are tough. We’ve all seen and experienced some incredible hardships over the past four years, which have brought out some of the best in human nature that we are ever likely to experience in our lifetime. So, we appreciate how you chose to invest your time and hard-earned money into a course or charter with us. We do, seriously.
If anything, we are truly humbled by how loyal you, our customers are. We always smile when we see orders and enquiries from customers that have been with us since Jon & Tom took over the business back in the early days of 2020 (you know who you are!). It’s been a rough and sometimes bumpy ride, but thanks for sticking with us.
So, now it’s time for us to help you if we can.
Given how you can only cut your bills and outgoings so far, it’s usually a much better bet to increase your income. Not always easy, but how about earning some extra money on a weekend, doing something you love, like sailing?
Sound good? We thought so.
As you know, we run many different varieties of courses and experiences from our Gosport Marina base. One of the most popular ones are our Mile Builder weekends, where likeminded sailors come together for a weekend of pure sailing. Usually skippered by one of our RYA qualified instructors, you don’t need to be an instructor to run one. A lot of our skippers are Commercially-accredited RYA Yachtmasters.
So how does that help you? ……………………………
Well, this is where it gets interesting. If you feel it’s something you are truly passionate about, why not consider working towards your RYA Yachtmaster qualification? Once qualified all you need is a medical, a VHF and First Aid certificate and you could be running a Mile Builder weekend for us AND getting paid for it.
Or, if you are already RYA Yachtmaster qualified, why not look at getting it commercially accredited and making it work for you? A lot of Instructors and Yachtmasters out there have Monday-Friday jobs and work for us on weekends to top-up their income. It’s a very popular and fun way of increasing your earnings, whilst doing something you love.
And, of course from the RYA Yachtmaster qualification it’s only one more step to gain your RYA Cruising Instructor qualification, which opens-up a whole world of courses you can teach, which you get paid even more for! And of course, we operate the work-back scheme for the RYA Cruising Instructor course, which makes it even easier to sign-up for, as it doesn’t cost you anything, and you gain valuable teaching experience with us.
And of course, if you are reading this after achieving your RYA Competent Crew or RYA Day Skipper qualification, thinking “yes! that sounds good!” then we also run the RYA Yachtmaster Fastrack scheme as well, which could get you to RYA Yachtmaster level in 18 weeks. Plus, with our grant/funding partners, you could qualify for full Government funding for the whole course.
So why not give it some thought, contact us for a chat or give us a call on 023 9250 4443 and see how we can get you afloat and earning money. We’d love to hear from you.
Keep on sailing!
