What is the STCW 95 Basic Safety Training course package?
The STCW 95 Basic Safety Training course package is the gateway qualification for anyone keen to join the maritime industry, whether you’re planning a stint on superyachts, commercial ships, or cargo vessels. Over the course of five action-packed days at our Southampton training centre, you’ll gain hands-on experience in all the essential safety and emergency response skills required by international maritime law.
This package is not just a tick-box exercise—it’s designed to make you confident and competent when it comes to onboard safety and emergency procedures. The curriculum brings together four fundamental modules:
- Elementary First Aid: Learn the basics to handle common medical emergencies at sea.
- Personal Survival Techniques: Master the art of staying afloat, life raft drills, and other survival scenarios.
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibility: Get to grips with safe working practices and effective teamwork on board.
- Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting: Train with real fire-fighting equipment, learning how to contain and extinguish fires at sea.
In line with the latest international requirements, the package also includes the Proficiency in Security Awareness module, at no extra cost. This ensures you’ll be up to speed with current industry regulations, especially concerning security on vessels.
In short: Whether you’re aiming for a career at sea or simply want to know what to do if things go sideways out on the water, this course gives you everything you need to get started.
